The fall season is shaping up to be a dynamic period for dance enthusiasts across Asia, with major festivals kicking off in Vietnam and South Korea. Vietnam Dance Week 2025 launched today with a new online format, while the city of Incheon is preparing to host a massive, star-studded street dance competition in mid-November.
Vietnam Dance Week Launches with “Hand in Hand” Video
The Vietnam Dance Artists Association officially commenced Vietnam Dance Week 2025 on October 28 by releasing a new art video titled “Hand in Hand – Shining the Future.” Tuyet Minh, the association’s Executive Vice President, noted that the video features 12 talented young dancers, including national award-winners like Vu Hue and Quang Anh. Many of the performers, trained at the Vietnam Dance Academy, are now active as professional artists, choreographers, and coaches.
The video serves as a visual celebration of Vietnam’s diverse cultural landscape. It was filmed in numerous culturally significant regions, from the northern mountains (featuring Mong, Tay, Dao, and Thai ethnic groups) to the Central Highlands and the southern Khmer areas. These traditional backdrops are contrasted with modern locations, including the Hai Phong port, Quang Ninh yachts, and the beaches of Nha Trang and Da Nang. The choreography itself is a vibrant fusion of folk dance, classical ballet, and contemporary styles, designed to honor regional identities within a spirit of national integration.
A Community-Focused Online Format
Dr. Pham Anh Phuong, President of the association, stated that the 2025 festival will be held online to broaden participation opportunities for artists nationwide, particularly for young choreographers. The event’s theme is “Dancing for the Community – Connection and Creativity,” aiming to spread a love for the art form and connect it more closely with social life.
Instead of just live performances, participants will submit creative videos. These submissions can be in folk or contemporary styles, or a hybrid of genres, as long as they convey a message of solidarity and love. Organizers require videos to have a clear layout, quality visuals, and clean audio. Submissions that highlight local landmarks or community activities, captured with creative camera angles and positive energy, are highly encouraged.
