The Washington Ballet Raises Funds With Noche de Pasión: The Tango Soirée

[Washington, D.C.] – The Washington Ballet (TWB) celebrates philanthropy and raises critical dollars for community outreach programs with Noche de Pasión: The Tango Soirée, a fall affair for The Washington Ballet’s student scholarship programs and its Latino Dance Initiatives.

The fall affair will be held on Saturday, November 8 at the Organization of American States. Guests will celebrate in tango style while supporting the next generation of ballet dancers, scholarship students and The Washington Ballet’s Latino Dance Initiatives.

Hosted by Co-Chairs Mayra Addison, Amanda Gordon, Pilar Frank O’Leary, Laura Swanstrom Reece and Reem Sadik, and with honorary Co-Chairs Her Excellency The Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to the United States Cecilia Nahón and Her Excellency The Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to the Organization of American States Nilda Garré, Noche de Pasión: The Tango Soirée promises to be an unforgettable night featuring live performances, music, dancing and dining.

“I’m thrilled about joining forces in order to produce an amazing evening for gracious supporters of The Washington Ballet. With this combined effort, we are able to reach an even larger audience and offer a deeply unique cultural experience for all of our attendees,” states event co-chair and Women’s Committee member Laura Swanstrom Reece. “This will be a fantastic celebration of Latin American culture and dance, embodied in the iconic Argentine tango. Following the enormous success of the Noche de Pasión benefit event over the last four years, The Tango Soiree will demonstrate the tremendous support of the entire Washington Ballet constituency for TWB’s Latino Dance Fund and other dance programs serving the community,” adds co-chair Pilar Frank O’Leary.

This Argentine tango-themed evening begins at 7PM with an exclusive VIP Reception hosted by TWB’s Artistic Director Septime Webre and Ambassadors Cecilia Nahón and Nilda Garré, honoring world-renowned Argentine dancer Julio Bocca. Guests will be treated to an exclusive cocktail reception for 2 sponsors, dignitaries and other VIP patrons, including a special dance performance from The Washington Ballet.

At 8:30 PM, the doors of the Organization of American States will open onto the bold and transformative world of the tango, transformed by Syzygy Events and Digital Lightning. A buffet style dinner prepared by Occasions Caterers will be served while guests bid on super silent auction items and dance the night away in support of these very worthy causes.

Noche de Pasión: The Tango Soirée benefits, in part, The Latino Dance Initiatives and TWB’s scholarships, two vital initiatives of The Washington Ballet’s community engagement programs. TWB’s community engagement programs specifically connect underserved children and adults to the art form by bringing the joy of dance into their lives, and offering unparalleled access to training and professional performance experiences. Since the launching of TWB’s community engagement programs 15 years ago, the Ballet has reached over 80,000 students, many of whom previously had limited or no access to the arts. Scholarships offer talented and deserving youth the opportunity to train at The Washington School of Ballet’s northwest and southeast campuses.

Reservation Information: Individual tickets for Noche de Pasión: The Tango Soirée start at $250, VIP tickets start at $500, and sponsorships start at $2,500.
