Tap Dancing Priests Battle? More Like Tap Dance Vs. Irish Step Dancing!

“A MUST SEE TAP DANCE DUEL BY US SEMINARIANS!!”

If you like this sort of thing you’ve probably already seen the above video of David Rider and John Gibson performing at an official gathering in Rome.

Though originally posted in April, it recently went viral with a healthy run that included coverage in the Huffington Post and by Perez Hilton.

However it seems to me that the dancing, which starts around the 56 second mark, includes both tap and Irish step dancing. The first guy is the tap dancer and the one that challenges him is the step dancer.

Of course, Irish step dancing is part of the historical foundation of tap dancing.

Near the end there’s a cute moment where the tap dancer mimics the Irish step dancer’s moves and the step dancer responds in kind. Not the highest quality video but it does a great job of capturing the moment.
