Sonya Tayeh Opens Heart For So You Think You Can Dance Duet

“Zack Everhart & Amy Yakima in Sony Tayeh’s Europe, After the Rain”

Sonya Tayeh is one of the more interesting choreographers working in tv and music videos right now.

Brian Anthony Hernandez relates:

“Inspired by the death of a friend, Emmy-nominated choreographer Sonya Tayeh channeled her grief through dance. She developed a contemporary routine for Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance contestant Zack Everhart, who portrayed her late friend.”

“Everhart was paired with Amy Yakima, the female winner of Season 10 in 2013, and they stunningly embodied Tayeh’s story — set to Max Richter’s melancholy Europe, After the Rain.”

It’s a lovely piece and nice to see on a highly viewed tv show. I’m surprised and glad she was willing to put something that personal out there.
