Red Bull Dance Your Style USA Finalists Bring The Heat
(Santa Monica, CA) – The premiere one-on-one street dance competition has completed its 2019 US run this weekend with the Red Bull Dance Your Style USA National Finals in Las Vegas. Hosted at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, winners from six regional qualifier events held across the country came together in front of a packed crowd to celebrate an evening of street dance freestyle dancing.
As the evening unfolded, the best dancers in the USA across hip-hop, popping, waacking, locking, and breaking used the dancefloor as their canvas to thrill, surprise, and delight the audience all the way until the final moments before Neguin was crowned the Red Bull Dance Your Style 2019 champion.

Spanning three months of electrifying events, the Red Bull Dance Your Style qualifiers kicked off the season, starting with Honolulu at the Kaka’ako Warehouse Event Space. From Honolulu, the qualifiers continued onto Washington D.C. at the Howard Theatre, Miami at Story, Boston at the House of Blues, and New Orleans at Generations Hall before wrapping up in Los Angeles at the Avalon in Hollywood.
For the USA Finals, dancers from all over the country battled under the bright lights of the Las Vegas strip, in the shadow of the Paris resort Effiel Tower radiating the Dance Your Style colors. DJ Mike Murdah entertained the crowd and challenged the dancers with an eclectic mix of selections, ranging from grunge to hip-hop, house to classic cuts. Keeping the energy alive as the night unfolded was effortless in the hands of the evenings’ host, the famed dancer and choreographer Galen Hooks, whose credits include Janet Jackson, Usher, and Rihanna.

The competition started off strong with a fun surprise from the Neguin vs. Lil O round when Neguin showed off his aim and tossed Lil O’s hat onto a 15 ft signpost which had the crowd gasping. After a warm welcome to the dancefloor for Los Angeles’ very own waacking and popping extraordinaire, Lily, battled the hypnotic breaker Kid David, bringing the crowd to their feet, demanding a tie-breaking second round. The nail-biting tie-breaker resulted in Lily winning the round and ultimately going against Neguin in the semi-finals. Ultimately, Neguin advanced to the final round and battled the vigorous and charismatic Rascal Randi who left everything on the dancefloor.
Exhibition performances entertained the crowd between the action-packed rounds with the first performance of the evening coming from the all women-identifying group THECouncil founded by Sheopatra, who competed during the Honolulu qualifier and stunned the crowd with their choreography, musicality, and hypnotizing dancing.

The second act of the evening was Kida The Great, known for his viral dance videos and for winning Season 13 of ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’ Kida The Great showed off his West Coast hip-hop style alongside his two dancers, Kendrick Willis, and Jabari Timmons. The final performance came from Compton born and raised musician Channel Tres, who had the whole floor dancing as he performed hit singles ‘Topdown’ and ‘Controller.’
Exuding confidence and showcasing his beginnings in coperia, Neguin won the crowd and became the first Red Bull Dance Your Style USA National champion with his unbeatable breaking moves and charisma. Born Fabiano Carvalho Lopes, Neguin began dancing at the age of 14 on the vibrant streets of his hometown Paraná, a Brazilian city where dance is a way of life. Starting off with freestyle and social dance, he added breaking to his dance repertoire in 2003. It only took him a few years before he began scooping up wins, battling in his native Brazil and beyond.
