Promo For Justin Peck’s Everywhere We Go With NYCB Is Mini-Dance Film Of Its Own

“Justin Peck’s Everywhere We Go with Music by Sufjan Stevens”

I’ve been watching a lot of promo dance videos for upcoming seasons and I have to say most of them are pretty unwatchable. Well, you can watch them but I would never post them.

They tend to edit bits and pieces of a whole evening or season together but not in a way that is satisfying to the viewer so they don’t do much for the company or theater posting them. They may be working off a tv ad model which actually has different requirements for success than web video.

However this short film, part of New York City Ballet’s campaign to promote their upcoming season (previously posted for the work’s debut back in May), is an exception. It’s a neat little dance film of its own.

Justin Peck is a soloist with NYCB who was also recently appointed resident choreographer. Not surprisingly he told the NY Times that he was “ecstatic.”
