Mia Hamm And Kids Celebrate LeapBand By Setting Guinness World Records

“LeapBand from LeapFrog is Fit Made Fun!”

[Emeryville, CA] – LeapFrog Enterprises, the leader in educational entertainment, hosted their premiere Fit Made Fun Day event on September 6th at Santa Monica Beach with soccer star Mia Hamm and more than 300 kids and families, becoming the new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record holders for three active play records – the most people making sand angels, the most people hopping on one foot, and the most people doing the swim dance.

“I was thrilled to be a part of this exciting and motivating event with kids and families. It was truly inspiring to see them working together to make history,” said Mia Hamm, mom of three young children and official LeapBand spokesperson. “Taking part in the very first Fit Made Fun Day was a proud moment for me as a mom. I believe in the importance of active play in my kids’ daily lives as well as focusing on health and wellness. The new LeapBand activity tracker is a great tool to encourage all of these things in a kid-friendly and engaging way, which is the best way to make getting active and establishing healthy habits a natural part of our children’s lives.”

“Fit Made Fun Day was a great success, and it underlined the importance of getting kids active in fun and creative ways,” said Greg Ahearn, chief marketing officer at LeapFrog. “As parents, it is our responsibility to help our children get up and moving on a daily basis and create a foundation built on healthy habits. We were honored to share the day’s successes with our incredible partners including Mia Hamm, Clif Kids, KidzBop and Hip Hop Health.”

In celebration of the launch of the new LeapBand activity tracker for kids, Fit Made Fun Day encouraged families to get up and active in creative ways while having fun together. LeapFrog also invited families nationwide to host their own Fit Made Fun Day, and share images and videos across media channels including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Inspired by the Partnership for a Healthier America and First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative, the LeapBand activity tracker gets kids moving and having fun with 50 different challenges, tracking a child’s physical moves so the more active a child is, the more points they earn with their virtual pet. As the child earns points through active play, they can unlock additional levels of play and virtual rewards for their on-screen pet. LeapBand has an adjustable wrist strap designed with children in mind, and high-tech features including a built-in accelerometer, a high-resolution color screen, a rechargeable battery and water-resistant design, making it the ultimate activity wearable for kids.
