DanceLand Launches Directory of College Dance Programs

Juilliard Dance | A Day in the Life (of Matthew Gilmore)

One of the reasons you have not seen a lot of news coverage at DanceLand lately is that I’ve been working on a directory of College Dance Programs. I’ve also been struggling with the implications of COVID-19 and the coronavirus pandemic. Currently I’m scrambling for work after leaving a setting that would have exposed me unnecessarily and having my new job essentially cancelled by coronavirus. I’ve also been helping a dance studio figure out the best way to continue offering classes remotely about which I hope to share at a future date.

The directory of College Dance Programs is the first complete section of a larger web directory of dance organizations and resources. I initially began with an attempt at a dance studio directory which resulted in listings of North Carolina Dance Studios. But to index the nation will take quite a bit of work so I’ve decided to focus on smaller pieces that I can complete in a reasonable amount of time.

While it’s true that I could launch a directory that allowed for people to submit their listings, that would result in a very incomplete directory even over time. I want these listings to be as complete as possible so keeping it simple makes that easier to do.

If you find inaccuracies or missing programs, please use this form. Thanks!
