DanceLand Posting Will Continue At A Slower Pace Through August

I have been posting on DanceLand at a slow pace this month due to work on the backend. I recently tried a different web host for the site, ran into issues and returned to my previous host. I’m now doing various tweaks and checking out options to further speed up the site.

DanceLand actually loads much more quickly than many media sites but that’s partly because we are not running advertising. That will eventually change but I still want a quick loading site and there are ways to make that happen on both desktop and mobile.

However, that work has thrown off the development of the Dance Studio Directory. Listings, which will be free, should be open in the next month but, obviously, classes will have begun so my calendar for that launch is out of sync with the realities of dance studio life. However, in the long run it will be a very positive thing for studios and so this fall will be about building the directory and ramping up posting.

Just so you know, I am working both a full-time job and doing some freelance writing and am the only worker at DanceLand so you’re seeing what I can do on the side. At some point DanceLand will have more resources but, until then, the struggle continues. However, it is a worthy struggle and I’m actually feeling really positive about the project in its current form.

At least I get to recycle the above photo! I used it for a post that got lost when I switched hosts but since that post was already outdated by the time I moved back it didn’t seem worth recreating. Everything else on the site should be fine. Let me know if that’s not the case!
