Northern Italy’s Dance Scene Erupts with Competitive Wins and Community Spirit
The dance community across Northern Italy is currently enjoying a surge of momentum, marked by prestigious competitive victories, electrifying theater showcases, and a renewed commitment to charitable outreach. From the competitive stages of Milan to the historic theaters of Belluno and community halls in Cesenatico, local troupes are proving that the region’s artistic maturity rivals that of major international hubs.
A Historic Victory in Milan
Leading the charge is the Trento-based company “E.Bloom,” which recently secured a monumental win at the World of Dance Italy. Performing at the Live Music Club in Trezzo sull’Adda, the troupe claimed first prize in the Adult Studio Division, one of the most coveted titles in the European circuit. The group, a competition team from the Lighthouse Dance Studio, impressed a panel of seven international judges—including heavyweights like Dylan Mayoral and Flaminia Genovese—to top a field of 17 squads.
Under the artistic direction of Isabel Nardelli and Patrick Ang, the 36 dancers, aged 14 to 20, delivered a performance that transcended mere technique. The winning piece was a deeply personal “hymn to life,” choreographed by Nardelli and Ang as a response to a bereavement the school suffered in 2024. Nardelli noted that while Italian dance schools consistently perform well internationally, the recognition for instructors and dancers often lags behind. For E.Bloom, formed in 2018, this victory serves as validation of their cohesion and emotional depth. It marks a significant leap from their previous standings, including a seventh-place finish at last year’s World of Dance Croatia, proving that their ability to transform raw emotion into movement has reached a world-class level.
La Fenice Lights Up Belluno
While E.Bloom conquered Milan, the atmosphere was equally charged in Belluno, where the Teatro Dino Buzzati hosted a sold-out showcase by La Fenice Dance. Despite being founded just over 18 months ago, the school has established itself as a powerhouse in the local and international dance landscape. The year-end spectacular was described by attendees as an explosion of energy, showcasing a level of artistic maturity rarely seen in such a young institution.
The production highlighted the school’s core focus: couple dancing. From Latin American rhythms to Standard Ballroom and Show Latin, the stage was alive with routine precision and palpable passion. The audience was particularly moved by the debut of the school’s youngest students, including a four-year-old dancer who stole the show. The thunderous applause and vocal encouragement from the crowd cemented the night as a triumph for students of all ages, confirming La Fenice’s trajectory as an incubator for talent capable of shining on global stages.
World-Class Mentorship
The rapid ascent of La Fenice is largely attributed to the pedigree of its founders, Vito Carobene and Yulia Livshitz. Far from being typical instructors, the duo is currently ranked among the top 10 couples worldwide in the Rising Stars Adult Master Latin category. Their active competitive status ensures students receive training grounded in the most contemporary styles and techniques.
The recent show featured a massive cast of rising talent, including Beatrice Dal Pont, Alessandro Mastroluca, Yeva Humeniuk, Gioia Gobbo, and many others who brought the choreography to life. Beyond the technical skills, the school has prioritized community integration. With branches in Feltre, Sedico, Belluno, and Agordo, La Fenice recently partnered with the association “Gocce di Sole” for the charity event “Danzando con il Cuore,” reinforcing the link between artistic excellence and ethical commitment.
Upcoming Charity Gala in Cesenatico
Continuing this trend of combining performance with philanthropy, the spotlight will shift to Cesenatico this coming Sunday, December 7. The Dance Dream school is set to headline a traditional fundraising evening organized by the local Italian Red Cross committee. Hosted at the Church of Santa Maria Goretti on Via Aspromonte, the event kicks off at 7:30 PM with free admission, though the primary goal is raising funds to support the Red Cross’s daily operations in the territory.
Dance Dream has prepared a series of choreographic interludes scheduled for 9:00 PM to break up the evening’s bingo games. By integrating dance into a community gathering, the organizers aim to create a festive atmosphere that allows the public to engage with the volunteers’ work while enjoying performances by students of various ages. It serves as a reminder that whether on a championship stage in Milan or a church hall in Cesenatico, the region’s dancers are moving in step with their communities.
