Dance Moms Is Back? Season 8: No One But Abby Is Irreplaceable

Abby Lee Miller on the Iron Throne

Real talk. I find Dance Moms really disturbing. There’s a lot of abusive behavior. A lot of prima donnas. A lot of reality tv show manipulation. It’s got a lot to hate. Yet people love it. And, yeah, I’ve posted quite a few Dance Moms videos so I share your guilt!

Season 8 is going to be truly hideous:

“Dance Moms Season 8 Premieres June 4”

I didn’t know Dance Moms was coming back till today. Since Abby went to prison, as part of her own real life soap opera, I’ve occasionally noted news about cast members. But mostly I’ve seen Maddie Ziegler in Sia’s music videos choreographed by Ryan Huffington, like LSD’s Thunderclouds. And they’re great! Maddie’s the one that went on to build her own career in a way that didn’t feel totally driven by her Dance Moms stardom.

Nevertheless, she will always wear the mark of the beast!

I know other cast members have done quite a bit but they also thought they were irreplaceable and that’s never true. Abby represents everything reality tv lives for and the kids? They’re great but they’re a dime a dozen. And now there’s a new bunch coming on the scene and they’ve even got a boy!

“Dance Moms Season 8: Meet Brady”

Dance Moms is truly about dance as a commodity. And, unfortunately, that’s the life many dancers lead. We can do better than this but, until we do, we’ll keep getting reality tv shows about choreographers who don’t do their own choreography and fresh new faces eager to replace those who seemed so irreplaceable only a year or two ago.
