Breakin’ Convention: Future Elements Night 2015 Ft. Baanji & Muti + Alexander Benjamin

“Alexander Benjamin: Native at Breakin’ Convention Future Elements Night 2015”

Breakin’ Convention’s festival takes place in early May this year but they’re already in action with Future Elements Night featuring emerging acts. Breakin’ Convention describes itself as an “international festival of hip hop dance theatre” and that is most evident in works such as those shown in these two videos.

Above, Alexander Benjamin performs Native in a style that merges elements from hip hop dance, street dancing and commercial music videos. While, below, Baanji and Muti go deeper into contemporary dance territory. Each chart their own path through the complex range of options that now exist for young choreographers.
